Nathan Smith "Let It Rest, Let It Rise" Release Show /w Hannah Shira Naiman

Trinity United Church, 111 McIntyre St E, North Bay, ON

Nathan Smith is releasing his debut album "Let It Rest, Let It Rise," showcasing a full complement of original folk songs and fiddle tunes. The album features a top-notch ensemble of veteran folk musicians (Emilyn Stam, Alan Mackie, Hannah Shira Naiman, and Anh Phung), many of whom will be joining Nathan on stage for a joyful celebration of music.

Nathan is a Toronto-based fiddle player and singer-songwriter, originally hailing from North Bay. He performs with a number of ensembles in the Toronto area, including The Barrel Boys, The Double Cuts, and The Red River Ramblers. His upbeat and soulful original songs and fiddle tunes reveal a combination of his bluegrass and old-time experience with his upbringing playing traditional Canadian fiddle music. His debut solo album, "Let It Rest, Let It Rise" features an ensemble of veteran Toronto musicians and a full complement of his new original material. Nathan's evocative lyrics and melodies roll over hilltops, echo off mountainsides, and flow down freshwater streams.

Named “Traditional Singer of the Year” (2017) by the CFMAs, Hannah Shira Naiman’s banjo-grounded songs dance the listener into the Appalachian mountains and eras back in time, drawing on her roots in Toronto’s ‘old time’ folk music community to share powerful tales of hope and loss.
